Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy by the Fermi Research Alliance (FRA). The Neutron Therapy Facility at Fermilab was possible because of a unique partnership between FRA and a medical provider. Fermilab operated the linear accelerator that produced the clinical neutron beam. The medical provider provided the clinical staff needed to treat patients. The medical provider also provided board-certified, licensed radiation oncologists who practiced at the facility.
